We had so much fun having Dottie here in Arizona if only for 24 hours (way too short a time). Yes...we got a new BBQ and John decided to put it together inside the house "go figure" Grin!! He kind of looked like Steve when he was doing his taxes on Tami's post. Anyway...after a thousand nuts and bolts found their place (with a few were left over...hmm men should really read the instructions) it was finally put together. Now if it WILL ONLY FIT THROUGH THE BACK DOOR! Never fear...he did get it through and we had some really nice steaks for dinner. Yummy...hey...where is Kolton..he makes the best steaks EVER.

It was fun having Dave and Sarah over while they were visiting Arizona from Ohio. Bob and Lindsay came over too. Bob and Sarah were pool partners and Dave and I were partners and needless to say the better team won two out of three games...that being Dave and I "Grin"...better luck next time Bob..practice up and maybe you can be the next winner "LOL. Lindsay was a good sport cheering both teams on. We celebrated our with pies from Marie Calendars...yummy!! Can't wait for them to come back to visit next year!!

Gold Rush Days in Wickenburg - John and Ginger

We drove about 50 miles up to the town of Wickenburg for their Gold Rush Days. Kind of a tradition for this town every year. Look at John buying us each a sundae...yummy! We sat down and listened to a blue grass band while we ate them. It was as a fun day walking around the town, seeing all the vender tents, antique autos on display, lots of food, fun watching all the people. A sunshine R&R day for John and I. This whole week has been fun...we also went to the Renaissance Festival out in Apache Juntion...see John's blog for pictures of that fun day.

John and I went to Christmas Eve service at Shiloh. Jason preached three services and I know everyone went away blessed as we celebrated Christ's birth. Then on Christmas day, we had a really nice afternoon with all the kids. We ate a lot, played Grab a Gift, Give a Gift, Gifts on the Go Game made up by Ginger...lots of G's. Jason and Kimberly gave us a Karaoke machine so we sang our hearts out. Tracie brought Tim and Allie over too. Brian danced with Kimberly. Jason celebrated Kimberly's birthday this weekend with a special surprise so we had Emily and Joshua and Justin with us...Yeah!!! Justin is an artist too. One picture is of his dad, Jason, as a young boy...he drew it really light so it is a little hard to see but nicely done. Emily came fully packed for fun. LOL Joshua still has a brace on his knew after a basketball injury but will soon have it off. The video is of him laying back and playing my guitar. Joshua and Justin also went to a Ball on Saturday with their friends but you will have to wait to see pictures when Joshua posts them on his blog...(they looked really sharp) They are so much fun to have visit!!!!

It was so much fun having Bob and Lindsay over for Thanksgiving. We laughed, ate, laughed and then ate some more "Grin". Stephen, Jackson, Grayson, Zack and Evangalina came over later in the day to play pool. And yes...Bob and John partnered up and beat the young guys Stephen and Zack BIG TIME. We went to Payson this weekend with Lynn and Nancy to see their new cabin. While we were in Oregon the kids in Phoenix had "Old Spirit Week" at school during their lunch hour. All the classes (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors competed). These are some of the pictures showing Jennifer, Joshua, Heather and Sheri supporting their respective grades. The Senior class won the week but everyone put in a great effort and had their days! John and I want to thank everyone for showing us such a wonderful time during our visit to Oregon! Wow...we saw the Goldman family perform, heard the cousins sing at their weekly lesson (twice), had a dinner at the Thorp home, Anderson home, Goldman home and Kruse home (oh so yummy!), went out with Dottie and Ken (gained weight), saw "Lady Jane" performed by Destiny, saw the "Go Getter" duo by David and Destiny, heard David play at his piano lesson (great job), played tennis with everyone (go Emma), played volleyball with everyone (go Kolten), John played ping pong (oops...beat Kenny), heard Kenny preach twice, John took the Harry and David tour with Tami and Jodi, lots of visiting with Ken and Dottie and of course....no trip is complete without "antiquing with Dottie" grinning!!!! Oh...can't forget that wonderful girl's day/night out with Dottie!!! So much fun, so much love and so much generosity! Thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts!!!! Dottie and Ken, we want to give a SPECIAL THANK YOU for opening your home to us and letting Brandye stay too! Can't wait to come back....but want everyone to know our home is open if you come to visit us in Arizona.

Crusader's First Game is a Win!!!! Go Justin

Justin played in his first school football game of the season for the Northwest Christian Crusaders with a big win over the Phoenix Christian Cougars. It was really hot out there and we were impressed how well both teams played in the heat. Justin is on the first string so was in on quite a few plays. We are so sad to think that our time here in Samoa is quicky coming to an end. We have all enjoyed our time here and have formed real friendships with the staff at the YWAM base. We are working hard to complete our project before we leave here on Thursday night to go to the airport for our flight to Australia. We are putting the tin on the roof of the fale and will start to attach the thatch today also. Please pray for safety as we travel. We were blessed by Devotions from Gabe on God's plans for our lives and Josh West on worry and fear. Everyone is healthy and getting along well!

Yes...we had a fun week with Heather and Justin camping in our trailer up to Prescott. When we arrived it was raining...as you can tell Heather and Justin were sad! But it cleared and the rest of the week was nice. If you look at the top of the one picture you can see Heather and Justin at the top of the mountain waving. Scary! We hiked, paddle boated (Heather and Justin had to tow our boat back because it broke), ate smores and just had fun!

Joshua has just completed the Lord's Boot Camp in Florida in preparation for his mission trip to Samoa. It was intense and very demanding and difficult at times but Joshua finished the camp and has been commissioned to go. He was at the Los Angeles airport yesterday and was able to talk to his Mom and Dad for a little bit before his flight to Samoa. He asks for our prayers and lots of mail to be sent to him His address is below. It requires a 94 cent postage stamp to send a letter to him in Samoa. He would love hearing from everyone. His mission is set but it is always wonderful to hear from your loved ones at home!!!! We are mighty proud of our Grandson Joshua!!!! His Light for the Lord is Shining Bright!!!!

Some of My Grand Canyon Hike Pictures

Here are just a few of the pictures of my Grand Canyon Hike in April with my friend Nancy. We hiked about 10 miles that day down to Indian Gardens and back up. Can't believe I am doing this at 61 years of age "Grin". It was beautiful and a really fun trip. The trail had ice and snow at the top, red clay and dust as went kept going down. It was worth it...Indian Gardens was beautiful.. As you can see...Nancy and I celebrated after we came back out of the Canyon. Oh..the guys just waited for us to go down and come back up!!!! True Story! About 17-1/2 years ago, John received a cute card in the mail. Thinking it was from me (whom he had not seen in 2 years) he sent me a cute romantic card back. Wow! I called and thanked him and he invited me over and the rest is HISTORY. Here we are 17 years later, celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary today. The ironic thing about this......is that I never sent the card to him in the first place. I truly believe it came from an Angel...who knew we were meant to be kindred spirits and share our lives. I love him so much and am thankful for the time I have been blessed to be with him as his wife. He is caring, loving, giving, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Travis Rolls Into Phoenix for a Visit

Was really nice to see Travis roll into Phoenix for a short visit on his way to deliver a load to Pomona, California. We crammed as much as we could into a 24 hour visit. He arrived just in time to see the last 15 minutes of Justin's game (which they won and Justin made a touchdown). Travis will post more on his blog so keep looking. New Football Season Begins for Justin

Justin played his first game of the winter season on Saturday afternoon. John and I were there to cheer him on and of course his Dad was really prowd of him. This is a picture of Jason with Justin after the game. His team won 40 to 6 and to his credit he had 30 yards rushing, 1 touchdown, 5 solo tackles and played just a good all around game. John and I decided to give Emily, Heather, Jennifer and Kimberly an EARLY birthday surprise. We all met at TGIF Fridays for lunch. After a yummy lunch, waiters singing happy birthday, balloons and ice cream sundeas, we gave them 4 envelopes with clues. Emily Performs in Winter Concert

Emily played 12 songs in her very first Winter Concert debut at Stetson Hills School. She is so sweet and a joy to be around. As you can see, she plays the flute. We were really impressed at how well her group played. Can't wait for her next performance. Way to go Sweet Emily!

The competition for extra credit, which was awarded to the catapults which shot the furthest distance, was intense and both the traditional models and the trebuchets had some impressive trials. When the dust settled at the end of the day, however, the most successful device belonged to Aubrey Gender, Gabby Gugachev, and Sheri Turner. Their model fired an impressive distance of just over 100 feet. (Great job Sheri Babe...your group rocked)

Jessica at her Piano Recital

Jessica was one of 30 students who played. She was last and played "Aria De Mezzo Carattere" and it was awesome. Trying to keep up with all the grandkids events is hard...how does Dottie go to 29 "Grin". It is so much fun and we wouldn't miss any of them. Next up is the Christmas Carol play, Winter Choir Concert and then Emily's flute concert.

Jennifer had lots of fun being in this Church Musical Play with her friends. It was about a town learning that a King is Coming to Town and they started preparing and trying to find out just who this King is. First they thought it was Elvis the King of Rock and Roll, then King Tut and even King Kong before they realized it was the Christ the King and they learned all about his Glory and celebrated his presence in their hearts and town. (This was a tribute to the real King) The play was fun to watch; I am hoping John can put a clip on his blog or maybe send a copy up to Vickie to show everyone.

Christopher's Knee Upate

Christopher having his first therapy session just 2 days after surgery. You can see his knee in one picture with the heavy bandages removed. They took a piece of his hamstring and made a new ACL for his knee. Just amazing. He is putting some weight on it now and will be doing extensive therapy next week when the swelling is down further. Chris was happy going back to surgery, and a little groggy when he came out to go home (sun in his eyes). What a trooper. The doctor gave Tracie a video of the complete surgery...we will all watch it soon to see what he went through. His doctor was so nice and one of the best here in Phoenix dealing with knee injuries. Thank you for all your prayers.

John and I went to the school choir program last night. My pictures are a little blurry but if you look close you can see Jessica in the back row of the Premier Choir group and Heather and Jennifer in the Treble Jr High Choir group...you have to look hard to find Jennifer...she is in the back and has a white blouse on. Jessica is in a school play this week called:

"Is He Dead?" it is a quirky comedy about a Parisian painter who is both deeply in love and deeply in debt. At his friend's suggestion, the painter fakes his own death to drive up the value of his paintings. Disguised as his own twin sister, our painter struggles to conceal his identity from his fiancée just long enough to get them all out of debt. Jessica plays the role of Cecile. She has been attending play practice over the summer and will perform this Friday and Saturday evenings in the school theatre. Can't wait to see it.

I went and picked Jessica up after practice today, along with Heather, Jennifer and Sheri who also had to stay after school because they each had cheer practice.
